Prorated
A partial payment based on how much of the part’s life you have used — “covered” becomes a math problem, not a yes-or-no.
Part of the Claims & money cluster.
What it means
A prorated adjustment means the manufacturer pays a share of a repair based on remaining life or mileage, and you pay the rest. For example, a battery 70% through its expected life might be covered 30%.
Why it matters
Prorated coverage is where “covered” turns into a calculation. Asking for the prorate math in writing before authorizing work lets you compare it against paying outright or shopping the repair.
What it is NOT
It is not a full repair and not a discount program. The warranty pays a calculated share; the balance is yours.
