Wear items
Parts designed to be consumed through normal use — pads, tires, blades, bulbs, clutches, fluids. Excluded from virtually every warranty.
Part of the Exclusions & limits cluster.
What it means
Wear items are parts that deteriorate with normal use: brake pads and shoes, tires, wiper blades, light bulbs, clutch linings, filters, and fluids. They are excluded from virtually every vehicle warranty because wearing out is their job.
Why it matters
Knowing the wear-item list prevents the most common warranty disappointment at the counter. When the advisor says “that’s a wear item,” it usually ends the conversation — and they are usually right.
What it is NOT
A wear-item exclusion is not a blanket exclusion for the system around it. A defective caliper that destroys pads is still a defect; the pads are wear, the caliper is not.
