Deductible
What you pay out of pocket per repair visit before warranty or service-contract coverage pays the rest.
Part of the Claims & money cluster.
What it means
A deductible is a fixed amount you pay toward a covered repair. Factory warranties on new cars commonly have no deductible, but extended and certified pre-owned plans often charge one per visit.
Why it matters
A zero-deductible factory warranty means a covered repair costs you nothing. If a plan has a deductible, “covered” still means you pay that amount — worth knowing before you authorize work.
What it is NOT
It is not a co-pay per part, and it is not a cap on the repair. Once the deductible is paid, the covered portion is paid by the plan.
