EV battery capacity warranty
Coverage that applies when an EV battery drops below a stated capacity threshold — a promise about retention, not just defects.
Part of the Coverage types cluster.
What it means
An EV battery capacity warranty guarantees the battery will retain a stated percentage of its original capacity for a set period — commonly 70–80% over eight to ten years. If measured capacity falls below the threshold, the manufacturer’s terms describe the remedy.
Why it matters
Capacity coverage is what separates a usable used EV from an expensive question mark. Read the threshold number and the measurement method in the booklet — together they define what actually counts as a claim.
What it is NOT
It is not the defect warranty (that one runs in parallel), not a driving-range guarantee, and not a promise of a brand-new pack — remedies vary and may be repair, reconditioning, or replacement.
