Hybrid battery warranty
Separate, longer coverage for a hybrid’s high-voltage battery — commonly 8–10 years, sometimes with capacity conditions attached.
Part of the Coverage types cluster.
What it means
A hybrid battery warranty covers the high-voltage traction battery and related hybrid components against defects, usually for a longer term than the basic warranty — commonly eight to ten years. Exact terms, and whether capacity loss counts, vary by manufacturer.
Why it matters
The traction battery is the most expensive component in a hybrid. Its separate term is the number that matters most when buying used — find the in-service date and read the capacity language before you trust the odometer alone.
What it is NOT
It is not the 12-volt accessory battery, not a promise of a new battery for any capacity drop, and not always capacity-based — some programs cover defects only.
