Repair order

The shop’s written record of what you reported, what they found, and what they did — your core evidence for any warranty matter.

Part of the Claims & money cluster.

What it means

A repair order (RO) is the document opened when you bring a vehicle in for service. It should record your reported symptoms in your own words, the diagnosis, parts and labor, and the outcome — approved, denied, or no fault found.

Why it matters

In any warranty discussion, the repair order is the paper trail. Review it before leaving the shop and ask for corrections if your symptom is misstated — later claims read what the RO says, not what was said at the counter.

What it is NOT

It is not a warranty document, not the final invoice (that is separate), and not optional paperwork — ask for a copy on every visit.

Terms in this glossary describe general warranty practice and US norms — they are informational, not legal advice, and not a reading of your specific warranty booklet.
