Corrosion coverage
Covers body panels that rust all the way through — perforation only, not surface rust. Separate from the basic warranty and usually longer.
Part of the Coverage types cluster.
What it means
The corrosion (perforation) warranty covers body panels that rust all the way through from the inside. It is separate from the basic warranty and usually runs longer — commonly 6 years, and unlimited miles on some manufacturers.
Why it matters
Rust coverage is the one warranty that gets better with age, not worse, in terms of what counts: only a perforation counts as covered, but the term is long. Surface bubbling is usually not enough — a hole is.
What it is NOT
It is not paint protection and not rust-proofing. Surface rust, paint bubbling, and rust from external damage or road chemicals are excluded.
