Special coverage adjustment
A manufacturer program that pays for one specific known condition beyond the warranty — dealer-communicated, frequently not publicized.
Part of the Recalls & manufacturer programs cluster.
What it means
A special coverage adjustment (SCA) extends coverage for one specific component or defect pattern past the original term. It is communicated to dealers with its own program number, time limits, and mileage limits, and it is not always announced publicly.
Why it matters
An SCA is a common reason an “expired” repair still ends up free. Ask the dealer to check for open special coverage programs against your VIN before authorizing paid work.
What it is NOT
It is not a recall (no safety defect is required), not an extension of your whole warranty, and not goodwill — it is a defined program with defined eligibility windows and terms.
